Processor Delid
High-power server class processors with Integrated Heat Spreaders (IHS) can provide a barrier to extreme thermal management. For best performance, careful application of a solution must be applied at the surface of the die – the interface which is most critical in a resistance network. Delidding the processor allows military grade control at the processor surface.
While an IHS does act as a positive cooling device, this critical interface between the spreader and the die is uncontrolled and only allows the thermal engineer to operate downstream of the component.
Delidding can increase the maximum power ceiling of a thermal solution by up to 10%, giving unmatched gains on your product over a similar solution.
